Heri ya Christmas na Mwaka Mpya!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from the central region of Tanzania, East Africa. We are so thankful for the past year. We appreciate all the support we have received financially, through prayer and action. We could not have accomplished all that we have without your support and contributions in one way or another.

We are excited for another year of serving the needy of Dodoma and Singida. We will keep you posted as we await a container of food, a container of books, finishing some of the construction at Ikhanoda Secondary School and visits from many of our supporters this coming year. We encourage you to come and witness firsthand the generosity of the Tanzanian people and the power of serving the needy.

We first met Aroni on May 1, 2004. He was going from gate to gate begging for money for a prosthetic leg. He was tired and hungry and had traveled far from home in hopes of receiving enough money so that he could go home with a new leg. After exhausting efforts, he knocked on the gate of our office and found the end of his journey was near.

Ikhanoda Ward is among the typical areas in Singida Region which is affected by low literacy levels. Every year there are more than 200 students eligible to go to secondary school that could not make it because of the non availability of sufficient secondary schools.

In 2003, PEN Trust donated school plans and subsequently donated skilled labour to realize the class rooms which will cater for more secondary school enrollment. In October 2005, PEN Trust donated the highly appreciated books from Books For Africa. Thanks BFA!
