Books For Africa
Books For Africa is the largest shipper of donated textbooks to the African continent. Books for Africa has shipped over 12.6 million primary, secondary, post-secondary, and community library books to 26 countries since 1988. PEN Trust has received three containers to date and has distributed BFA books.
Feed My Starving Children
The Vision Statement of Feed My Starving Children helps to explain their calling. With God’s help FMSC will reduce the number of starving children throughout the world by helping to instill compassion in a generation that hears and responds to the cries of those in need. PEN Trust has received two containers to date from this organization for emergency food relief for rural villages in Singida and Dodoma regions of Central Tanzania.
Friends of African Village Libraries (FAVL) FAVL’s goal is to assist the rural poor of Africa with the creation of village libraries. This is accomplished by working closely with the communities in which the libraries are established. FAVL refurbishes community-donated buildings, transforming them into a space to read and study. Libraries are stocked with books by local authors and in local languages to the greatest extent possible. In addition, FAVL sponsors librarian training and provides for librarian salaries, thereby empowering locals with skilled employment.
Christian Mission For Dodoma
They are a not-for-profit 501(c)3 independent charitable organization working to improve conditions of people in the Dodoma region of Tanzania. Their “mission” is not about winning these folks for Christ – as Dodoma Christians themselves are doing God’s work, spreading the Gospel, especially to people who have not yet heard it. Their mission is to “come alongside” our brothers and sisters in Dodoma to make people aware of their work, and help them with their projects and efforts to make their world a better place to live.
St. Martin’s Table Saint Martin’s Table is a vegetarian restaurant that also offers a selection of fair trade items, goods from local artists and books that reflect the values of the Community of Saint Martin. Their mission is to serve healthful food in an atmosphere of hospitality, while promoting good stewardship of the earth. They encourage social change through good conversation and a variety of educational programs.
Darien Book Aid Darien Book Aid is a non-profit, all volunteer organization that builds a foundation of peace, understanding, and friendship by distributing free books. Book Aid sends books in response to specific requests from Peace Corps volunteers, libraries and schools all over the world.
Mother Bear Project
Mother Bear Project has donated 250 knit bears to PEN Trust.
Play It Again Sports
Play It Again Sports in Crystal, Minnesota has donated 30 soccer balls and ball needles for village teams.
Northwest YMCA
Northwest YMCA has donated various t shirts in many styles and reversible jerseys. These items were given to rural village teams, orphans and scholarship students.
